PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Peer Outreach Support Services & Education (POSSE) developed by youth as a direct response to youth needs. POSSE is a youth driven, leadership development, peer based, non-judgemental, harm reduction, human rights/truth and reconciliation program. POSSE offers low barrier training to people ages 15-35, as well as, low barrier, non-gated street level outreach and support services for ages 15 + in Windsor/West Hants, Sipekne’katik, Sackville and Dartmouth.
PROGRAM SUPPORTS: Violence and sexualized violence prevention, intervention and information; Homelessness support, Peer Support; Street outreach; Youth drop-in; Service navigation and referrals; Crisis intervention and accompaniment; Continuing education; Advocacy; Accompaniments; Harm reduction. Distribution of safer substance use kits; Substance test kits (fentanyl, benzodiazepines, xylazine; Naloxone; Emergency food / urgent needs (limited to funding); Mental health information; Sexual health and consent information; Safe sex supplies.
